Complaints and Reporting
This page provides job seekers and employers using the MyLocalJobs platform and services (collectively, the Platform) with information about our complaints and reporting mechanisms and procedures.
These mechanisms and procedures should be used for any complaints or reports concerning user safety on the Platform or other breaches of our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.
This includes information about how you can make a complaint or report concerning online safety or other breaches of our Terms of Use and how we will deal with your complaint or report.
How do I make a complaint or report?
You can make a complaint or report an incident by:
- contacting us directly at complaints@mylocaljobs.com.au; or
- using the in-Platform reporting function (this function can be accessed by clicking the “Report” button that appears on or near a job advertisement, message thread, profile, business page or other relevant page).
What can I make a complaint or report about?
You can make a complaint or report about any material, communication or conduct on the Platform that you believe may breach our Terms of Use or Community Guidelines or that is otherwise harmful, offensive, unlawful or poses a safety risk.
This includes material, communication or conduct that falls within one or more of the following categories recognised under Australia’s online safety regime:
- cyberbullying of an Australian child;
- cyber abuse of an Australian adult;
- non-consensual sharing of intimate images of another person;
- Class 1 and Class 2 material, including material depicting, describing, inciting, promoting or instructing in:
- child sexual exploitation;
- terrorism;
- crime and violence;
- drug use;
- pornography; or
- suicide and self-harm.
More information about the categories above, and Australia’s online safety regime generally, is available on the eSafety website.
In addition to the above, certain material, communication or conduct may also breach our Community Guidelines, including:
- engaging in bullying, abuse or harassment such as by posting or communicating material that is abusive, threatening, intimidating, harassing, humiliating, menacing, offensive, vulgar, obscene or indecent;
- engaging in conduct which is hateful or discriminatory such as by posting or communicating material that is racist, sexist, ableist, ageist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-Semitic or Islamophobic;
- engaging in other unlawful or inappropriate conduct such as by posting or communicating material that is defamatory, fraudulent, misleading or deceptive, breaches privacy or confidentiality or infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
Other categories of material, communication or conduct are also prohibited under our Terms of Use, including clause 8 which specifically deals with “Acceptable Use” of the Platform.
What happens next after I submit?
When you submit a complaint or report:
- you will receive an automatic acknowledgement and reference number;
- we will review, investigate and take appropriate action in a timely manner in accordance with the Terms of Use, our policies and procedures and applicable laws (including online safety legislation); and
- we will communicate the outcome of your report or complaint to you in writing.
What action may be taken in response?
At our discretion, and depending on the nature of the complaint or report, appropriate action may include (without limitation):
- issuing a warning;
- removing, or restricting access to, content;
- suspending or terminating user access to and use of the Platform or user accounts;
- restricting user access to certain features of the Platform (e.g. direct messaging); or
- referring the matter to appropriate authorities, including the eSafety Commissioner and the Australian Federal Police.
